OUR MISSION

SAN FRANCISCO

Dine11SF launched as an emergency response to the needs of San Francisco families facing food insecurity and economic disruption as a result of Covid-19. Our mission is two-fold:

  • To provide nourishing meals to hungry San Francisco children and their parents and caregivers
  • To help local restaurants survive mandatory closures and limits on service

Through private donations, grants, and corporate sponsorships, we fund neighborhood restaurants to make meals for our neediest and often youngest citizens. We partner with more than a dozen community non-profits to help us distribute these meals and align with restaurants throughout the city, with a focus on businesses that are owned by women and people of color.

WHO WE ARE

Dines11SF launched when four longtime San Francisco moms put their heads together to address the economic fallout from Covid-19. They focused their effort on feeding parents and children while at the same time supporting one of the city’s most beloved institutions, its neighborhood restaurants. Nikki Pearl got the ball rolling after learning of a similar effort in Los Angeles. Soon after, Lourdes Cordero, Frances Sanahuja, and Katie Morford joined the team, combining their backgrounds in finance, marketing, culinary, wellness, and motherhood to get meals into the hands of those who need it most. The group mobilized and delivered its first meals within 10 days of inception through an entirely volunteer effort with zero overhead expenses.

“This service is great to have during this time.  There are a lot of parents and guardians that are  struggling to meet their children’s basic needs.“

–Boys & Girls Club

“One mom-to-be saw the most recent meal delivery,  pasta and meatballs, and almost cried. She was so  grateful to have such a nice meal and she was humbled  by the support from a group of people coordinating this  effort and the donors who make it all possible. She  couldn’t believe she wasn’t alone in all of this.”

–Compass Family Services

During this time, having organizations like Dine11 work directly with small independent restaurants, working to keep their doors open, their staff employed, while doing something good for the community has been really great. Getting nourishing, fresh meals out to the community is a great kind of synergy that has come out of this whole situation.
