LONG ISLAND

We’re teaming up with chefs and restaurants in Long Island to feed heroes on the front lines of the Covid19 crisis.

We support local restaurants and feed hospital workers. It’s that simple. Every dollar raised by Dine11 (minus bank processing fees) helps coordinate purchasing food through local restaurants and getting it delivered to healthcare workers in emergency rooms and Intensive Care Units across Long Island. Our goal is to deliver up to three meals a day to facilities in need.

They say cooking done with care is an act of love. Dine11.org was conceived and created in response to a growing need to support and feed the hard working medical professionals on the front lines during the global pandemic of 2019-20 to provide delicious free meals to doctors, nurses, and crucial hospital staff working tirelessly on the front lines of the Covid19 crisis.

In September, Stacey Jawitz started working with a committee to plan a May 1st fundraiser for her children’s school (LISG.org). At the early March meeting it became clear that, because of COVID, the fundraiser wasn’t going to happen anytime soon so the team pivoted. They heard stories about health care workers working round the clock and unable to get food and they wanted to help. The committee also wanted to help the local restaurants that had lost most of their business and were in danger of closing. With the help of the committee, Stacey coordinated with local restaurants and hospitals to have meals delivered.

After an outpouring of support from the school community and positive feedback from the hospital workers themselves, that small group of volunteers was inspired to add more restaurants and more hospitals to their program.
